Comprised of mostly original works by Jumaane Smith, this deeply emotional album seamlessly traverses jazz, blues, and contemporary soul, with nostalgic echoes of classic albums from those genres. “Come On Home represents a deeply personal and ultimately redeeming homecoming for me. While the title song expresses the pain and blues of personal loss, the album tells a story that includes early trauma and grief alongside the joy and refuge I found in jazz. Following an illustrious sideman career – with Harry Connick, Jr., Jackie Evancho, and an 18-year run with Michael Buble – I am now taking center stage as bandleader and composer.
