Jeremy Seaton – "First Time" – 1205 AM Productions

Although Jeremy Seaton is a veteran keyboardist/composer who has been creating genre-busting contemporary jazz fusion with saxophonist Hamilton Moore as the band Clazzmates in Detroit, he’s in a whole new mode these days, strutting his stuff and exploring fresh new grooving as a solo artist. As he gears up to release his debut album Hidden Treasures, the classically trained pianist promises that his upcoming debut won’t be urban jazz business as usual and will feature an eclectic gumbo of his favorite vibes. He whets our appetite for all the magic to come with the perfectly titled lead single “First Time” – a sparkling infectious slice of old school R&B adventure that draws us in with the groove but keeps us transfixed with his lively, charming, and hopeful melody and especially his explosive runs and explosive jazz chops. The whimsical and funky retro soul-jazz romp finds Seaton working his compelling melodic piano over a tasty shuffling groove created by the powerhouse rhythm section of bassist Mel Brown and drummer Jeff Canady and guitarist Andre Frappier. Seaton leads that quartet full of energy with snappy, hypnotic sonic effects, some nifty interaction with his subtly soulful Fender Rhodes harmony lines and serious old school touches, including the crackling wah guitar of Andre’ Frappier.
