Jonathan Butler is back with his latest Mac Avenue release Ubuntu. With an all-star personnel list and production by Marcus Miller, Butler realizes some very personal goals with his music.
Jonathan explains, “Dreams do come true! The first time I heard Stevie Wonder I was a child growing up in the shanty town of Athlone, outside of Cape Town, South Africa. I imagined making my own music someday and meeting my inspiration and idol Stevie Wonder. As an artist, I always admired the undisputed sounds and talents of Marcus Miller and dreamt we would one day collaborate on an album. My dreams are now realized on this very special record, Ubuntu, which features Stevie playing on my humble rendition of his song “Superwoman,” and the entire album is produced by the incredible Marcus Miller! This record has been over three years in the making and I’m so deeply honored to have also had the contributions of so many talented artists and friends. Personnel: Russell Ferrante, Tommy Sims, Stevie Wonder, Marcus Miller, Keb’ Mo’, Michèle Vice-Maslin, and more!
